Hey Coon 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 11
I'm looking for some 7' spinning rods for some Okuma Epixor's I just picked up. I'm lookin for some 8-17lb ish light to medium rods. Being a cheap a$$ I don't want to spend alot of money.

So far i'm considering:

Penn slammer

Valor Corp's: Tarpon Bay rod (fuji guides and reel seat)

Berkley lightning

Ugly stick (not sure which to get).

Any suggestions?

i'd go for the Berkley, that's what i use for my Okuma's
my fav right now is a 7' Star nickolite with a Quantum Cabo spinner with 30# power pro and an 18" 40# flourocarbon leader. a bit pricey, but Bass Pro will replace the reel on the spot for free. can't beat that fishing the briney. i like the star rod because it's got a little more azz than the Berkley.

Ugly stick has a nice one out now with fuji guides and a fuji reel seat as well. The model is SPI11701M. Its a medium action. I like star rods too. They really don't age. I've got one for my tarpon rig. Though I haven't been out with it since last year. They're all priced about the same. hmmmmm. decisions decisions.

The ugly stick i'm thinking about is a 6-15 lb. 1pc. I'm probably gonna put 15lb green power pro on the Okuma's.

BUT...I might get the 8-17lb variety. I just don't want some big azzed heavy rod. My father in law has a 10-20lb Penn rod and i'm not into it.
